BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St John the Baptist Church, Norwich

The church is locally known as St John Maddermarket. The dial is high up at the east end of the south wall, to the right of the clerestory windows. The dialplate is now eroded but would have shown 6am to 6pm in half hours (or more). The gnomon has an upturned end and is supported by a single ’S’ supporter. An earlier image from a church leaflet shows Roman numerals vertically aligned, a small circle round the gnomon root and full length hour lines.
