BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

South Lodge, Colchester

Black painted, half armillary design with ornamental ends to open rings. Arrow gnomon mounted to point downwards. No nodus. Shows 3am to 9pm in half hours with embossed brass topped numerals. Set on ornamented, slender cast metal column and pierced ’garden umbrella’ style base.
