BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Berkshire

Memorial dial on a grave. The dial has aligned Roman numerals read from outside IIII - XII - IIII - VIII with noon gap, hour lines to circle around gnomon root, half and quarter hour divisions. Motto: "Sunny hours". The gnomon, which is a little bent, has a simple ’S’-shaped supporter. The hour lines are for about 54 degrees north and the gnomon angle is also 54 degrees, so this appears to be a mass-produced dial calculated for that latitude - York, perhaps? Note that this is one of three sundials in this cemetery, all set on very similar tapered circular-section stone pedestals with deep circular capitals and bases. Engraved in the pedestal is "Jessie, beloved wife of Arthur James, Died Nov 30 1947". The three dials are very close together near the main pathway from the cemetery entrance, on the south side of the path.
