BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

Compass centred on gnomon root. Two engraved birds either side of gnomon. Shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15 and 7.5 min marks. Half hours marked by inward lines and a dot. Uses XII and IIII. Numerals read from outside. Noon gap. Knuckleduster style of gnomon piercing. Gnomon has enlarged underend. Three hole fixing. Set on rough finished cylindrical pedestal with circular capital and base, square plinth. Inscription on plinth indicates dial set up 1959. Located in lower south area of the churchyard.
