BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
A rhombus shaped dial arranged in a stone lozenge surround inset into stone blocks which in turn are inset into the chimney. A hexagonal time scale shows 6am to 6pm in hours and half hours. Numerals aligned vertically, and all furniture is embossed. Hour lines are drawn to a stylised sun at the gnomon root. The date is in stylised lettering in the very top, with floral décor at the bottom. The dial is located in the centre of the front chimney stack of the public house (closed since 2006).
Update May 2013: The dial has been removed to storage by Basildon Council. Future plans not known.
Update March 2016: The dial has been re-installed at the nearby Wat Tyler Centre (see SRN 7953).
