BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Althorp House (3), Althorp

This circular stone dial, with gnomon slot, will be found at the falconry. It shows 4am to 8pm in hours and half hours, with full length hour lines and small marker peripheral lines for half hours. Lines earlier and later than 6am/pm do not go to correct edge of gnomon. No Noon line split. Crest and date at South end. Marks at very S edge may be maker’s name. The maker was the cousin of George Washington who farmed at Brington.
