BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Towneley Hall Museum, Burnley

This dial was created to mark the Millennium and commemorates Richard Towneley, who designed Tompion’s clock escapement in 1676. It is mounted on a south-facing buttress, just over three metres from the ground. The symbol at the top left refers to Towneley’s work with clocks. At the top right is the date in Roman numerals, while the centre shows the family coat of arms with the latitude and longitude beneath it. The dial itself, marked in half and quarter hours, shows times from 7.00 am to 5.00 pm in Arabic numerals. A pin nodus indicates solstices and equinoxes.
