St James’ Church., Birlingham

On the East buttress of the tower is a vertical dial which declines 12° East. Only a few lines, including the noon line, are now visible. The bronze gnomon has a scalloped under edge and there is no evidence of a nodus. The dial dates from the 18th century and is about 500mm square.
