Dial in Hereford & Worcester

In the churchyard to the North of the chancel is a bronze horizontal dial which is a memorial to Dorothea. M. Seabourne who died in 1928. It shows the hours IIII - VIII (using XII for noon) divided into halves and quarters. The half hour markers have inward pointing arrows. The numerals are read from outside the chapter ring. Split noon line. There is an 8-point compass rose from which the hour lines run and continue through the numerals. The motto reads, "We miss the hand clasp, miss the loving smile. Our hearts are broken, but a little while and we shall pass within the golden gate. God comfort us, God help us while we wait." The dial was made by Francis Barker and Son of London and is 255mm in diameter. It is mounted on a slender stone circular section baluster pedestal with square capital and plinth.
