BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Northamptonshire

The dial is kept indoors, not pedestal mounted. The design latitude is shown as 52 deg 32 min. There is a central compass rose with all eight cardinal points identified. Hours are IIII - XII - IIII - VIII, read from the outside, with a split noon. Half hours are marked by inward pointing fleur de lys and outward pointing lozenge lines. Hour quarter and eighth marks are inside the ring’s radius and ten and two min marks are outside it, with Arabic numerals for the 10 min intervals. The hour lines are drawn through the numerals. The chapter ring has simple scroll ends. The gnomon is elaborately pierced, and aligned between flats. The patina of the gnomon appears different from that of the plate, and it is slightly too thin for the noon gap, so it may be a later addition. Four hole fixing.
