BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Mottoes read: on NE spandrel "As Tyme doth haste/soo lyfe doth waste", on NW: "In the hower of death/God be mercvll/unto me" , on S of gnomon :"He that will thrive/myste rise at five/he that hath thriven/may lie till seven/he that will never thrive/may lie till eleven". Lower spandrels have elephant and squirrel motifs. Date in Chapter ring. Shows 4am to 8pm in half hours. Uses XII and IV. Numerals read from inside the chapter ring. Gnomon root at centre of dial plate. Square plate 4 hole fixing. Pierced replacement gnomon with coarse supporter profile. No Noon gap. Mounted (inset) on square section ’taper-baluster’ sandstone pedestal with square capital and base. Date has been read as 1660, but is confirmed by the owner and by Gatty. Important dial.
