BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Essex

The dial is located in the north-east area of the churchyard. It shows 4am to 8pm in 30 and 15 min marks, using XII and IIII, the numerals being read from outside the chapter ring. Split noon line. Sunface in centre and circle with 4pts of compass at gnomon root. The motto reads: "Sole Orto Spes Decedente Pax". 4 point fixing with scrolls at each corner. Dialplate recessed into capital. Mounted on a circular section, slightly tapered, granite column with square, under radiussed, capital and square plinth. Memorial dial to H&E Ruffell.
