BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Jersey

The dial is to the right of the door. Motto reads: "Thus, though we cannot make our sun stand still, yet we will make him run". (A quote from To His Coy Mistress (1681) by Marvell.) Stylised gold 16 flame and ray sun at gnomon root. Gold name ’John’ above the Sun, and and dates of life 1964 - 1980 below the chapter ring, of the owner’s son. White lettering all on a black slate ground.
