BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The motto on this ceiling dial reads: "Em Avtem Horam et Illam". [’There but the hour and that’ or ’All we have is time - nothing else (exists)’]. Shows 7am to 12 noon in hour and half hours. Uses XII. Lines extend to 6am and 4pm. Motto written in triple semicircle centred above mirror. Some concern about delineation since the window faces S35E. Mirror would have had to be on the window sill. But there is no evidence of it or a mounting. Hotel details suggest it was lit from a reflecting pool outside.
