BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Nicholas Church (2)., Kings Norton

On a gable end East of the porch is this 18th century vertical South dial which shows the hours VI - V divided into halves. The morning hour lines look wrong. The half hour lines end at a semicircle round the gnomon root while the hour lines continue to the root itself. The initials T.S. can be seen to either side of the gnomon and these may represent the maker, a churchwarden or even the vicar of that time. The dial measures about 350mmw x 280mmh.
