BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

West Cross Roundabout, Sandwell

In the shopping centre, on a 6 metre square section steel column with a pointed top, is an armillary sphere about 1000mm in diameter. It has a nodus on the simple rod gnomon. There there is no time scale and, even if there were, it would be invisible from the ground. By way of compensation, the many lamps on the column illuminate the ’dial’ at night!
