BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cheshire

The dial is on the lawn terrace. It is a fine modern memorial dial with a very good gnomon. The motto is: "He saw one life and felt that it was good", and an inscription reads: "Alan Kinsbury Principal of Burton Manor College 1972-1987". The dial has two time scales, for BST & GMT but only LAT is shown. It shows 5am to 7pm in 30 and 5 min interval, using XII & IV, the numerals being read from inside the chapter ring. There is a 16-point compass rose to the south of the elaborate pierced gnomon, which looks forged from strip. The dial is mounted on a reconstituted stone baluster pedestal with a square capital and plinth.
