Dial in Suffolk

The painted dialplate is over the gateway to the garden, inset into the brick wall which was built c 1580. It is an important early dial, restored by Harriet James in 2010. It is slightly canted out on the right hand side. The triangular sheet iron gnomon has a nodus notch and an unusual fimbriated lower edge. Upright Arabic numerals 6am to 6pm in half hours. Declination lines for each change of zodiac sign, with zodiac sigils in border. Ref: BSS article in 2011 gives account of restoration.
