Williamson Park, Lancaster

This striking analemmatic dial was created for the Millennium on an old bandstand in the park. The bronze hour markers were decorated with Lancaster scenes by Ripley St Thomas School pupils. It shows the sun and seasons, the Equation of Time for each month and a graph on the central scale. The time indicated is British Standard Time, adjusted for accuracy at this longitude, and can be read from 6.00 am to 8.00 pm in hours. The base is made of composition stone.
