BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

David Livingstone Centre, Blantyre

Hemispherical globe. The dial is designed to indicate the enormous size of Africa and hence the extent of Livingstone’s travels. It is said to show the half of the globe that has Scotland at its zenith or centre. A coin controlled fountain plays over the globe. The dial shows the areas in the world that are in daylight and hence gives some indication of time. The plaques show the primitive trades by which mankind lives, and illustrate the text on the inner side.
