BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Hinton House, Weedon

Dating from 1998 this dial of Caithness stone was made by Belinda Eade and it declines 4° east. It shows the hours VI - V undivided. Across the top is the motto ,Umbra Solis’ (The shadow of the sun). The bronze rod gnomon has the letter H in red beneath its root (this stands for Henrietta, the owner’s wife) At the bottom of the dial is a representation of the ecliptic and the constellation of Cancer at the time of Henrietta’s birth. The date appears in Roman numerals set vertically at the left of the dial plate.
