BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
The dial is to the left of the top of the entrance. A motto (or inscription) across the top has been defaced and is illegible. The house was rebuilt in 1955 and incorporates the dial that formerly was on the Glasgow Wine Vaults further up the street. It shows 7am to 7pm in hours and half hours, with full lines to a semicircle for both. Half hours are marked by a lozenge. Uses XII and IIII. The 7pm numeral is defaced. The outer edge of the dial stone is ornamented on three sides (not top). Ref: ’Old Stirling Clockmakers’, C Allen 1990.
