BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Wiltshire

The dial is in the forecourt of the church. The motto probably reads: "A shadow round about my face the sunny hours of day will trace". Inscriptions read: "George Sainsbury 1897-1961" in the bottom LH Corner and "Ivy Sainsbury 1897 - 1984" in the bottom right. The gnomon has a single supporter in the shape of an ’S’, and appears fabricated and has less patination than the dialplate so may be a replacement. It has unusual paired side strengtheners and the gnomon’s styles do not reach the dial plate although it appears to be correctly positioned. There is a split noon line, though time ticks continue through the split and between 8pm and 4am. Unusual curly patterns round the dial and on points of the compass as embellishment. Shows 4am to 8pm in 30 and 5 min intervals. Four hole fixing on stone baluster pedestal with square capital and plinth on circular stepped base.
