BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hampshire

The dial is supported on a single stone corbel set in the brick south wall of the Ward Room. It commemorates the Millennium and the Atlantic Naval battle against the First French Republic of the glorious first of June 1794. The motto reads: ’Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum’, and other inscriptions around the perimeter read: ’HMS Excellent 2000’ and ’1st June 1794’, with the latitude and longitude of the dial (not the battle) also shown. There is a Britannia crest in the centre of the dial, and a declination line for the 1st June. The dial is depicted with black lines on a white ground, with gold leaf numerals and inscriptions on the black edge. It shows 7am to 5pm in hours, with noon not marked and IV for 4pm. The hour lines extend back above the horizon.
