BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Sts Peter & Paul’s Church, Wymering, Portsmouth

Vertical rectangular south-facing war memorial dial on the porch. The dialplate is very elaborately pierced and engraved with scrolls, a sun above, a rooster on the left and an owl on the right. Being direct south-facing, the dial covers 6am to 6pm. The hour lines run from the gnomon root to the rectangular chapter ring where there are short ticks every 5 minutes, with longer quarter and half hour ticks. The vertical Arabic numerals are in a fancy font. The pierced gnomon has very curly supporters. There is a noon gap. Above the dial a motto reads: "Cuius animae propitietur Deus’ [On whose soul may God have mercy]. Below, an inscription reads: "To the Glory of God/in loving memory of/ William Tennant/killed near Johannesburg/ All Saints Day 1900". He was a Lance Corporal of 4th Battalion during the Second Boer War. Below this there is a plaque to his brother Charles who died in 1912.
