BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Madresfield Court, Madresfield

The horizontal dial here dates from the 19th century. It shows the hours VII-V divided into halves and quarters. It has a large gnomon with an unusual cockerel supporter. The coat of arms of the Lygon family is engraved on the dial together with the motto ’Ex Fide Fortis’ (Strength from Faith). It is mounted on a circular stone bulbous pedestal with circular top and octagonal base.
