BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Badger Gate, Kirkby Lonsdale

Plaque below dial records: "Badger Gate was built in the year 1781 by John Wearing". Inset dial plate with proud (new and blue!) Roman numerals and hour lines. Gnomon is amazing being a vertical chord of a circle on which is welded a horizontal bar. One suspects an incompetent restoration. Shows 6am to 6pm in hours. No Noon numeral. RS confirms wooden construction and that the dial blew down in 2004. Possibly made by Stephen Curran, who lived at the house in the 1980s and 1990s.
