BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Thwaites Mill, Leeds

The dial is on an island in the Aire and Calder Canal. It usesa ’lamp-post’ style black & gold column as the gnomon and has a semicircle dial plate of white gravel inset with grey stone hour markers. The gnomon is surmounted by a weathervane with the vane using a profile of surrounding buildings. The ten or eleven hour markers are made from rectangular slabs of stone of alternating lengths presumably showing hours and half hours from 9.30 to 2.30. However there is no correction for the use of a vertical gnomon. Located between Knostrop & Thwaite Mills
