BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
This dial sits in the middle of a quiet valley garden in an old hamlet which lies near the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to the south-west of Blackburn. It was erected in memory of those from the Paper Mill who enlisted in the two World Wars. Carved Roman numerals in an octagonal capital surround the iron dial plate and gnomon; the dial is set on an elegant square stone column and square plinth, with engraved slate plaques at the base.
Sadly the gnomon was reported missing in October 2015.
