BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Leics & Rutland

The dial is on the front lawn, set on a baluster pedestal with a circular capital and base. It is engraved ’Thomas Hogben, Land Surveyor and Master of the Free School of Smarden, Kent fecit’. Hogben was active 1724-1750. 16-point Compass labelled. EoT watch faster, slower scale dated before 1752 (zero at Aug 20). There are two rings of cities (29 in all) with XII for the time of noon at each. The dial shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15, 10, 7.5, 5 and 1 minute marks, using XII and IIII, and has a noon gap. The hour lines, read from the outside, go through the numerals. The gnomon has a sigmoidal rear edge and side supports.
