BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Alderney Airport, St Anne’s

An iron equatorial dial, showing 7am to 6pm in half hours, mounted on a twisted iron bar embedded in square concrete pedestal with a circular top. A further ’time scale’ (7am to 5pm in hours) is drawn on the top of the pedestal using the vertical support of the upper dial as a form of gnomon. A cross bar points North. The motto on the pedestal reads: ’Count the bright hours only - [the?] Sun-Dial does’. Ref: Alderney Journal 18.7.98.
