BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Peter & St Paul’s Church, Wisbech

This is a replacement dial on the south wall by the entrance porch, supported on a ledge, which in turn is supported by two stone corbels. The dial is made of Ketton Limestone and the hour lines were recalculated. The original was made of marble but shattered when removed in 1992. The break arch tablet has a circle in relief in the arch above actual dial. The dial shows 6am to 5pm with Roman numerals that are aligned with the hour lines to be read from outside the dial. There are 30, 15 & 5 minute marks. A double row of a chequer board pattern is used to mark each 5 min interval. The bronze gnomon has an ornate curved supporter. Motto reads: ’Pereunt et Imputantur’ which can be translated as ’They [the hours] pass by, and are put to our account’. Ref BSS Bulletin 93.3 Oct 1993 p 20
