BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Cambridgeshire

The dial is on the wall of the Perne Library, and is a suitably scholarly dial for such a place, featuring a chronogram in which gilded capital letters within the carved motto spell out the Roman numerals for 1984 - the date of the dial. The motto reads: ’StrVCta sVper petram stabit DoMVs: Vt fVgit hora Crescit honos: septem saeCVla Certa fides’. (On Peter’s rock our house stands sure: Its fame, hourly increased, seven centuries proclaim.) The east-declining dial face shows hours from 5am to 4pm, with an analemma on the noon line.
