St Giles’ Church., Goodrich

The South wall of the tower is the site of a bronze vertical South sundial which was put there in 1820. It shows the hours VI - VI (using XII and IV) divided into halves, quarters and intervals of 5 minutes. The half hour markers have a diamond decoration and there is a split noon line. It is a substantial dial and the solid gnomon has an S-shaped rear edge. It measures 540mm square.
