BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Belton House [NT] (2), Belton

In the garden. Motto reads: "Lux et Umbra Vicissim Sed Semper Amor". Replica of original Thos Wright dial (SRN 0619) of 1724 which has been stolen. Shows 4am to 8pm in 30, 15, 7.5 and 5 min marks and to 1 min by interpolation over five min marks using transversal ’vernier’ type zigzag scale. 5 min marks have Arabic numbering. Uses XII and IIII. Noon gap. Numerals read from outside. C/arms and motto viewed from N. EoT Watch Faster Slower scale - zero dates not reported, but the scale now used is post 1752. City names and XII noon marks inside chapter ring for Pekin, Fort St George, Ispahan, Moscow, Constantinople, Lisbon, Ferdinando Isle, Barbados and Mexico. Interesting arched gnomon, with block supporter at N side of arch. The whole on an elaborate baluster pedestal with Father Time and cherub décor by the Danish Gaius Gabriel Cibber, 1630 - 1700.
