BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Harris Promenade, Douglas

The dial is in the gardens by Villa Marina. It is mounted on a square section baluster pedestal (cracked) 1250 mm high with square top having side of 400 mm. The dial, unusually, is designed to be read from the north. The 6am to 6pm line is across the centre of the dial, which shows 4am to 8pm with 15-minute marks. The gnomon is missing. The inscription, in arcs with foliage, reads: ’Philip Moore Esq / Pull Rose / August 9th 1786’.
