BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The Village Hall, Crewe Green

Mounted on the chimney supported by two stone brackets. A very pleasing dial which has worn well. Made of painted stone, but the iron gnomon is broken, and three of the Roman numerals are upside down. The date is 1882 and the motto ’Use well thy time’. Beneath the dial is a stone plaque showing ’Time rewarding industry and punishing sloth’. Two mottos for the price of one, both very Victorian.
