BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

St Andrew’s Church, Seaham

An important Anglo-Saxon dial set on a thirteenth century wall above the porch but probably dating from the eighth century. It strongly resembles the dial of the same period at Escomb, having a separate dial plate with a similar semicircular barley-twist edging and apparent sculpting above, now eroded. Now having hourly divisions of time but perhaps originally with only "tides" of three hours. With a generous grant the dial was conserved in 2001 with cleaning and careful pointing around for waterproofing.
