BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Sundial Farmhouse, Wroxton

Rectangular vertical dial, wrongly oriented. The dial is delineated, and the gnomon angle is made for a location where it will be facing south west (about 20 degrees west of due south). But the wall it is on faces south east (about 20 degrees east of due south). So one can’t help wondering if the dial maker applied the wall declination with the wrong sign. The dial is beautifully made but cannot be a good timekeeper where it is. It is all hand lettercut and gilded stone (Cumbrian slate?). The dial looks modern and does not appear on an old photograph of the building. Note that Wroxton has several other interesting sundials: SRN 2251, 2758, 3960, 3961.
