BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Bow-string equatorial dial near the Japanese Field Gun. The equatorial ring carries the stainless steel time scale with marks every half hour from 6am to 6pm but no hour numbers.
The meridian ring is constructed to allow latitude adjustment but it has been incorrectly fixed at 53 degrees (Romsey being 51 degrees north).
The polar axis is a stainless steel rod. It has no nodus.
A motto etched into the equatorial ring reads: "For the Sun which never sets".
The dial, in green anodised (painted?) alloy stands 1.7m high on a four-legged metal pedestal.
