BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Powerscourt, Enniskerry

The dial is located in the Italian Garden which lies prominently on a central pathway towards the lake. The motto, in a separate iron band above the dial, reads: ’Horas Non Numero Nisi Serenas’. Upright numerals for V - XII - II are marked at the top end of the hour lines as well as at the bottom, and are divided to 30 and 10 min intervals with half hours marked with Arabic 30. The whole sculpture was inspired by Lord Powerscourt’s visits to Rome, and was designed by Francis Penrose. The ’spitting men’ fountains are said to be figures of Eolus. They were bought in Paris in 1872, and the dial would date from that period.
