St Paul’s Churchyard, Chudleigh Knighton

This cross dial near the gate of the churchyard is a memorial to Herbert Parker KG who died in 1920. The circular baseplate is recessed into the top of a chamfered octagonal granite plinth 610mm high. The dial itself measures 330mm long x 200mm wide. It shows 3am to 9pm divided into halves, quarters and five minute intervals. There are dual floral half-hour markers on doubled scales. The motto reads: "Redeem the time: and count each hour a loss that is not blessed by shadows from the cross". Base shows directions of NSEW, Lat Long as N503502, W033753 and Height above sea level of 93 feet. Twelve monthly EoT tables are on the north sloping face with Longitude correction also.
