BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Pencarrow House (2), Washaway

In the garden to the west of the house is an 18th century bronze horizontal dial by Thomas Heath of London who was in business from 1720 to 1753 or beyond. It was probably brought here in 1998 and could possibly be the original Molesworth-St Aubyn family dial. It shows the usual hours from IV-VIII divided into periods of 30, 15, 7 1/2 and 1 minutes (the last being in Arabic numerals.). There is a 16-point compass rose and an Equation of Time scale. City names between the numerals indicate the time of noon at these places compared with local time. It stands on a round limestone baluster pedestal mounted on a granite (? Millstone) base.
