BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
On the village green is a cube dial mounted on what may have been the pillar of an old cross. It is very eroded and hardly any features can now be discerned on any of the faces. Some lines on the South face suggest that the cube may be upside down. Mrs Gatty (The Book of Sundials) quotes two dates neither of which make sense in terms of their Roman numerals. A date of 1148 has been suggested but this surely must refer to the original cross rather than the dial. The cube is one of 500mm mounted on a pillar measuring 2400mm.
