BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Belmond Le Manoir au Quatre Saisons, Great Milton

In the garden of the restaurant is a cube dial dating from 1599 set on a pillar which is an upward extension of the corner of a garden building. It measures abput 300mm x 3oomm x 400mm high. Only the south face has any definite markings and shows the hours VI - VI divided into half hours, the hour lines emanating from a semicircle round the gnomon root. All four sheet iron gnomons are there. On the top of the cube is a bronze owl. Like many interesting old dials this one is now very much shaded by trees.
