BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

The dial stands in the Lily Wood garden, and is set on a tapered circular section pedestal in ’canopic jar’ style, decorated with dancing figures. A motto in the chapter ring at the south reads: ’Serene I stand among the flowers / and only count life’s sunny hours. / For me dark days do not exist, / I’m a brazen faced old optimist’. The dial plate shows 4am to 8pm in bold Arts and Crafts Arabic numerals read from outside the dial, with a noon gap and divided to 30, 15 and 5 minute intervals. There is no compass rose as such, but ’E’, ’S’ and ’W’, read from the north, are arrayed around the gnomon root. The gnomon is open, with a simple curved supporter, and is inscribed ’Lande & Co’.
