BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Lytchett Minster Parish Church, Lytchett Minster

This four- face dial is over the south porch. The north gnomon is missing, and the west gnomon is twisted. The north & south gnomons are iron, the east west are bronze. Both Roman and Arabic characters are used. The date over the north dial is 1835, and that on the plinth stone is 1833. The Church was rebuilt 1833-4 probably using an older parapet and finials for what were then new dials. There is some evidence of recutting. A motto on the plinth stone reads: "Praestant Aeterna Caducis", and there may be a further inscription over the south dial : "Sempe_..A..M". If visiting this dial look out for the rare mass dial on the south buttress.
