BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.
Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.
Lying east of the church is an octagonal brass horizontal sundial mounted on a wooden plinth 800mmh. It shows the hours 4am to 8pm in Arabic numerals amd divided into halves, quarters and intervals of 7 1/2 minutes. In the centre is a 16-point compass rose and there is a motto, "Nox Venit" (Night is coming). The gnomon angle has been measured at 57° which is a bit steep for this location. It measures 250mm across. The dial was put in store awaiting a new plinth and it is not known whether it has been reinstated.
