BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

Dial in Hereford & Worcester

Positioning a horizontal dial against a South wall ensures that its full time scale cannot be used. It is a pity that this has happened to such a good dial as this bronze dial by T. Watkins of London who was working at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th century. It is quite a large dial, being 550mm in diameter. It shows the hours IIII - VIII divided into halves, quarters and intervals of 5 and 1 minutes. There are scrolls at the ends of the chapter ring. The gnomon measures 382mm along its style. The dial stands on a baluster plinth 1160mm high. When visited a few years back it had disappeared totally behind an overgrowth of the surrounding shrubs so was, for the time being, protected from thieves and vandals.
