BRIDOL is the British Sundial Society's Register of Fixed and Mass Dials, which gives detail and photographs of about 8000 fixed sundials and 3000 mass dials in the UK.

Some of these are in private gardens, but the majority are publicly available.

RAF Staff College, Bracknell

This unusual brass horizontal dial on the Flagroom Patio has the Hawk of Horus as its gnomon; the bird’s straight back casting the shadow. It was presented to the Staff College in 1988 and is engraved for BST. There is an Equation of Time scale and the maker’s name (Brookbrae) also appears on the dial. The dial is circular with a diameter of 200mm. It has to be moved about on the patio from time to time to make room for other activities which take place there.
